Soda Fired BMix Porcelain Vase and presentation basket. Wonderful new piece depicting my love of the garden and the birds that surround me especially as we are isolated due to the Covid virus. The Vase form that was created to go into the presentation stick basket is 18”tall x 6” wide and 5” deep. It is wheel thrown, and hand carved depicting a bird building a nest on one side and a peony blooming on the opposite. Combined the piece is 19” tall x 13” wide x 10” deep. Each of the sticks appears to be nailed together but in reality each of those little nails were hand made, fired and glued in. Lots of stamping, carving , rolling in textures, hand staining and then a finish off in a soda firing that includes about 3 hours of wood stoking.
